Poet and activist, George Benard Shaw said, “You use a glass mirror to see your face, but you use works of art to see your soul.” I believe every person is so much more than a title or a role they play, but a unique individual that has something to say to the rest of us.
It has been my honor to teach and coach students to unleash their voice, their souls, and reflect the creativity of God through art for almost 20 years. I’ve taught are classes and percussion classes at a french school in Uganda, at the U.S. Embassy in Kampala, private lessons in homes, classes in homeschool groups, classes in private art schools, and commissioned workshops.
Abantu Arts Fusion is a space for the community to come together to share and grow. Each person entering has a gift to share. The relationships we share help us to discover the social, economic and political challenges that affect the community. We have seen the talents and gifts of hundreds of people go underutilized far too long. Each individual holds within him or her an inherent dignity that needs to be recognized and called out.
Abantu Arts Fusion offers a place for individuals to share and develop their gifts and talents. As students develop their interest and skills in the arts, they are also learning and contributing to our community needs around the world. We will offer art classes, both private and group, but it will also encourage sharing of ideas and resources and building up of gifts. There will be opportunities to connect community needs with opportunities and resources.
We offer painting sessions, drawing sessions and African percussion sessions.
All materials are provided in the art sessions. African percussion sessions require a drum
